abstract = {This community service activity is carried out to increase knowledge and understanding as well as community participation in stunting prevention and early detection programs in toddlers which are expected to directly motivate the community to participate in paying attention to growth and development in their children so that their growth and development can be optimal. The method carried out is to assess community knowledge and problems faced about deterrents. Factors that must be prevented and overcome in solving the problem of stunting of children under five in Indonesia is to minimize the baby born LBW, the number of children not more than 3, need good care in boys, prevent mother giving birth at age less than 20 years. Improve the adolescent's nutritional status so that her height is maximal, complete the immunization needs, improve mother's education, focus the health service on children in rural area, and fulfill the requirement of Fe pregnant mother tablet. Maternal knowledge is measured using pre-test before activities and post-test after knowledge is given. Based on the results of the pretest and post test which were attended by 35 respondents, it can be stated that the pre-test results about the level of knowledge of respondents about stunting prevention program amounted to 14 respondents (40%) understood about stunting prevention programs, while based on the results of the post test there were 27 respondents (77.1%) ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman serta peran serta masyarakat dalam program pencegahan dan deteksi dini stunting pada balita yang diharapkan secara langsung dapat memotivasi masyarakat untuk ikut serta memperhatikan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pada anaknya sehingga pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya dapat optimal. Metode yang dilakukan adalah menilai pengetahuan masyarakat serta permasalahan yang dihadapi tentang pencegahan dan cara menilai/ deteksi dini stunting pada balita di desa Hiteurat Kabupaten Padang Lawas Utara. Faktor yang harus dicegah dan ditanggulangi dalam menyelesaikan masalah stunting balita di Indonesia adalah adalah memimalisasi bayi lahir BBLR, jumlah anak tidak lebih dari 3, perlu olah asuh yang baik pada anak laki-laki, mencegah ibu melahirkan pada usia kurang dari 20 tahun. Memperbaiki status gizi remaja sehingga tinggi badannya maksimal, melengkapi kebutuhan imunisasi, meningkatkan pendidikan ibu, memfokuskan pelayanan kesehatan pada balita dipedesaan, dan mencukupkan kebutuhan tablet Fe ibu hamil. Pengetahuan ibu diukur dengan menggunakan menggunakan pre test sebelum kegiatan dan post test setelah diberikan pengetahuan. Berdasarkan hasil pretest dan post test yang diikuti oleh 35 responden dapat dinyatakan bahwa hasil pre test tentang tingkat pengetahuan responden mengenai program pencegahan stunting sebesar 14 responden (40%) mengerti tentang program pencegahan stunting sedangkan berdasarkan hasil post test terdapat 27 responden (77,1%) yang mengerti tentang program pencegahan stunting.},
