Peer Review Process
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan applies a double-blind review process. Authors are welcome to suggest at least three potential reviewers along with their names and email addresses. However, the decision to determine the right reviewer is the right of the editor. Gallery proof of approved manuscripts will be viewed online as early as possible upon receipt of the author and final proofreading by the editor-in-chief.
Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed. Software tools can be used so that submitted articles are screened for plagiarism. Overlapping and similar text detection is used there so citations and matched quotes should be used whenever needed. Basically the author's job is only to submit manuscripts that are free from plagiarism and academic malpractice. Editors, however, double-check each article before publication. The first step is to check for plagiarism against the offline database by the Editorial Board of the Journal of Community Service: Empowerment, Innovation and Change and, secondly, against as many online databases as possible.

Authorship Criteria
Authorship Criteria
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) is committed to ensuring responsible, transparent, and ethical authorship in all published contributions. Authorship must reflect genuine intellectual and practical contributions to community service activities and the preparation of the submitted manuscript. All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful contributions to the reported activities and/or the scholarly presentation of their outcomes.
Criteria for Authorship
Individuals listed as authors should meet all of the following criteria:
- Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the community service program, the implementation methodology, the collection or analysis of activity data, the evaluation of outcomes, or the interpretation of the results.
- Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
- Accept accountability for their contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the reported activities and manuscript.
These criteria are intended to ensure that authorship reflects meaningful scholarly involvement in the planning, implementation, evaluation, or reporting of community service activities.
Contributions to Community Service Activities
Community service programs may involve lecturers, researchers, students, practitioners, community representatives, partner organizations, and other stakeholders. Participation in an activity does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. Individuals must meet the authorship criteria described above to be listed as authors.
Community partners and beneficiaries who contribute valuable assistance, local knowledge, facilities, logistical support, or other contributions without meeting the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the manuscript, with their consent where appropriate.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial team throughout the submission and publication process. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed authors have approved the manuscript, agreed to the author list and order, and consented to its submission to JPM Widina.
The corresponding author is also responsible for providing accurate authorship information, coordinating responses to editorial and reviewer comments, and communicating relevant information to all co-authors.
Order of Authors
The order of authors should be determined by mutual agreement among the authors, taking into account their respective contributions to the community service program and manuscript preparation. All authors must agree to the final order before submission.
Any addition, removal, or change in the order of authors after submission must be supported by a clear explanation and written agreement from all affected authors, including any author being added or removed. Such changes are subject to editorial approval.
Author Contributions
Authors are encouraged to provide a clear and accurate statement describing each author's contribution to the community service program and manuscript. Contributions may include program conceptualization, methodology development, coordination with community partners, implementation, data collection, monitoring and evaluation, analysis, manuscript preparation, critical revision, supervision, and project administration.
All contribution statements must accurately reflect the work performed by each individual. The journal may request clarification when authorship information or contribution statements require further explanation.
Unethical Authorship Practices
JPM Widina does not support unethical authorship practices, including:
- Gift authorship: Listing an individual as an author despite their failure to meet the authorship criteria.
- Ghost authorship: Omitting an individual who has made a substantial contribution and meets the authorship criteria.
- Guest authorship: Including an individual's name primarily to increase the perceived credibility or acceptance prospects of a manuscript without an appropriate contribution.
- Coerced authorship: Requiring an individual to be listed as an author solely because of their position, seniority, institutional authority, or personal relationship.
Concerns regarding inappropriate authorship may be assessed by the editorial team. The journal may request explanations or supporting documentation from the individuals concerned and take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.
Authorship Disputes
Disputes concerning authorship eligibility, author order, or changes to the author list should first be addressed by the individuals involved and, where appropriate, their affiliated institutions or relevant organizations. JPM Widina may request clarification and supporting documentation before proceeding with editorial decisions.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved adequately, the journal may suspend the editorial process or publication of the manuscript until an appropriate resolution is reached. The journal does not replace the role of institutions in investigating internal disputes or determining individual contributions to community service activities.
Declaration of Authorship
By submitting a manuscript to JPM Widina, the corresponding author confirms that the authorship information provided is accurate, that all listed authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission, and that no individual has been included or excluded in a manner that violates accepted principles of publication ethics.
Commitment to Authorship Integrity
JPM Widina promotes fair recognition of scholarly contributions, accountability, and transparency in reporting community service activities. All authors are expected to comply with this policy to maintain the credibility of published contributions and uphold ethical standards in community engagement and scholarly communication.

2. Journal Management
The management of JPM Widina involves the administrative and operational activities necessary to support the journal's publication process. These activities may include maintaining the journal's publication platform, communicating with authors and reviewers, managing manuscript submissions, coordinating editorial workflows, and making journal information accessible to readers.

Management activities should support an orderly, transparent, and responsible publication process while respecting the distinction between administrative responsibilities and editorial judgment.

Editorial decisions concerning manuscript evaluation, revision, acceptance, or rejection should be guided by the scholarly merit of the submission, its relevance to community service and empowerment, the quality of its supporting evidence, and compliance with applicable publication ethics requirements.
Manuscripts may address community empowerment initiatives, the application of appropriate technologies, community training and capacity building, partnerships, program implementation, impact assessment, and other subjects within the journal's scope. Editorial assessment should consider the credibility of the reported activities, the appropriateness of the methods used, the accuracy of the reported outcomes, and the potential contribution of the work to community development.
Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by commercial interests, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, financial considerations, or other factors unrelated to the scholarly and ethical quality of the submission. Any actual or potential conflict of interest should be handled in accordance with the journal's applicable Conflict of Interest Policy.
4. Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher provides the publishing framework within which the journal operates. Publisher-related responsibilities may include supporting publication administration, maintaining the journal's publishing infrastructure, and facilitating the dissemination of published content, subject to the applicable arrangements between the publisher and the journal.
The publisher and journal management should support the integrity and continuity of the publication process. Any administrative or organizational changes should be handled in a manner that takes into account the journal's scholarly responsibilities, the interests of authors and readers, and the reliability of the published scholarly record.
5. Transparency and Accountability
JPM Widina aims to provide clear and accurate information about its ownership, publisher, editorial arrangements, publication policies, and contact channels through its official journal website. Information published about the journal's organizational structure and management should reflect the actual arrangements in place.
The journal's publication policies should be applied consistently and communicated clearly to authors, reviewers, readers, and other relevant stakeholders. Questions concerning journal ownership, management, or editorial responsibilities may be directed through the journal's official communication channels.
6. Ethical and Responsible Management
Journal ownership and management should support responsible scholarly publishing and respect the rights and legitimate interests of authors, reviewers, readers, community partners, and the communities represented in published articles.
Particular attention should be given to the responsible reporting of community service activities, the appropriate treatment of participant information, the protection of confidential or sensitive community data, and the accurate representation of program outcomes. These considerations are important to maintaining trust in publications that describe interventions or activities involving real communities and partner institutions.
7. Commitment to Scholarly Integrity
JPM Widina is committed to maintaining a publishing environment that values transparency, accountability, fairness, and scholarly integrity. The journal's ownership and management arrangements should support its mission to disseminate responsible and useful knowledge concerning community service, empowerment, innovation, and change.

Permission should be obtained where required, particularly when materials identify individuals, reproduce protected works, or disclose information that is not intended for public distribution.
Use and Reuse of Published Articles
The reproduction, distribution, adaptation, or other reuse of articles published in JPM Widina is subject to the copyright terms and licensing conditions applicable to each article. Users must comply with the relevant terms and provide appropriate attribution to the original author(s) and source when required.

Reuse of Community Service Materials
Articles published in JPM Widina may contain photographs, illustrations, tables, educational materials, community documentation, and other content related to community service activities. The license applicable to an article does not automatically grant permission to reuse third-party materials included in that article when those materials are excluded from the license or remain subject to separate rights.
Users must check the relevant credit lines, permissions, and licensing statements before reusing photographs, images, data, or other materials involving community members, partner organizations, or third-party rights holders. Any applicable privacy, consent, and legal requirements must also be respected.

Third-Party Use of Published Content
Individuals, institutions, educators, community organizations, and other users who wish to reproduce, distribute, adapt, or otherwise reuse published articles must comply with the license stated for the relevant work. Where the intended use is not permitted by the applicable license or copyright law, users must obtain permission from the relevant rights holder before proceeding.

Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must present their content honestly, acknowledge the contributions of others, and comply with accepted principles of publication ethics.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the use of another person's words, ideas, data, findings, images, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment of the original source. Plagiarism may include copying text without proper quotation and citation, inadequate paraphrasing, presenting another person's ideas or work as one's own, and reproducing figures, tables, photographs, or other materials without appropriate attribution or permission where required.
Plagiarism in Community Service Publications
Because JPM Widina publishes articles concerning community service, empowerment, innovation, and community development, authors must ensure that descriptions of program implementation, methodologies, evaluation results, community profiles, and reported outcomes accurately reflect their own activities and contributions.
Authors must not copy or misrepresent reports, program documentation, training materials, community assessments, photographs, evaluation instruments, or findings produced by other individuals, institutions, or community organizations without appropriate acknowledgment and permission where required.
When community service activities build upon previous programs, publications, or institutional reports, authors should clearly identify the relevant sources and explain the relationship between the previous work and the activities reported in the submitted manuscript.
Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication
Authors must disclose relevant overlap between a submitted manuscript and their previously published articles, reports, conference papers, or other publicly available works. Reusing substantial portions of previously published text, data, images, or program descriptions without appropriate acknowledgment or disclosure may constitute a publication ethics concern.
Submitting substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals simultaneously is not permitted. Any reuse of previously published material must be transparent, appropriately referenced, and consistent with applicable copyright and publication requirements.
Plagiarism Screening and Editorial Assessment
Submitted manuscripts may be assessed for textual similarity and potential plagiarism as part of the editorial process. Appropriate similarity-checking tools or other assessment methods may be used where available.
Similarity reports should be evaluated in context. A similarity percentage alone does not establish whether plagiarism has occurred. The assessment should consider the nature, extent, location, and source of overlapping material, including properly cited quotations, references, standard terminology, methodological descriptions, and other legitimate similarities.
Similarity Threshold
JPM Widina may establish an editorial similarity threshold to support the initial assessment of submitted manuscripts. Any numerical threshold adopted by the journal should be clearly communicated to authors and applied consistently. The assessment of potential plagiarism must not rely exclusively on a numerical score but should also consider the substance of the overlap and the adequacy of source attribution.
Authors' Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all borrowed ideas, quotations, data, figures, tables, photographs, and other materials are properly acknowledged. Direct quotations must be clearly identified, paraphrased content must be appropriately cited, and permissions must be obtained for third-party materials whenever required.
Authors must also ensure that the information presented about community partners, program participants, implementation processes, and activity outcomes is accurate and not copied or misrepresented from other sources. Any reused material originating from previous reports or publications should be disclosed and cited appropriately.
Actions in Cases of Suspected Plagiarism
If potential plagiarism is identified before publication, the editorial team may request clarification, seek supporting documentation, require revisions, or reject the manuscript depending on the nature and severity of the concern.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, JPM Widina may review the available evidence and take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics and corrections and retractions policies. Such action may include issuing a correction, publishing an expression of concern, or retracting the article when justified.
Where necessary, the journal may seek clarification from the authors or contact the relevant institution or organization in accordance with applicable procedures. Decisions should be based on the available evidence and handled fairly and consistently.
Commitment to Publication Ethics
JPM Widina expects authors, editors, reviewers, and other participants in the publication process to uphold academic honesty and responsible research practices. This policy aims to protect the originality and credibility of published community service contributions and to ensure that knowledge, program outcomes, and innovations are reported with appropriate acknowledgment of their sources.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Allegations of Research Misconduct
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, research transparency, and ethical standards in the publication of community service activities and related scholarly contributions. The journal takes allegations of research misconduct seriously and aims to assess such concerns fairly, objectively, and in accordance with established principles of publication ethics.
Definition of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct refers to actions or practices that undermine the accuracy, reliability, originality, or ethical integrity of scholarly work. Such misconduct may include, but is not limited to, fabrication or falsification of data, plagiarism, inappropriate authorship practices, manipulation or misrepresentation of research findings, duplicate publication, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and other serious violations of accepted research and publication ethics.
In the context of community service publications, concerns may also involve the misrepresentation of activities conducted, inaccurate reporting of program outcomes, fabrication of participant data, unauthorized use of community documentation, misleading claims about community impact, failure to disclose relevant limitations, or violations of applicable consent, privacy, and research ethics requirements.
Reporting Allegations
Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, community partners, and other concerned parties may report suspected research misconduct through the journal's official contact channels. Reports should identify the manuscript or published article concerned, describe the nature of the alleged misconduct, and provide supporting evidence or documentation where available.
Allegations should be raised in good faith and supported by relevant information whenever possible. The absence of complete evidence at the time of reporting does not automatically invalidate a concern, provided that the allegation can be assessed further.
Initial Assessment
Upon receiving an allegation, the editorial team may conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the concern falls within the journal's responsibilities and whether sufficient information is available for further consideration.
The assessment may include reviewing the submitted manuscript or published article, examining relevant documents, checking the consistency of reported information, and requesting clarification from the parties concerned. The journal should distinguish between honest errors, methodological limitations, disagreements in interpretation, and potential research misconduct.
Further Examination and Institutional Consultation
Where further examination is warranted, the journal may request additional information or supporting documentation from the authors. Depending on the nature of the concern, relevant evidence may include activity reports, research instruments, evaluation records, data summaries, documentation of community engagement, or other materials appropriate to the case.
When the matter requires access to institutional records, underlying data, or formal investigative authority beyond the journal's capacity, JPM Widina may contact the relevant institution, research organization, or other appropriate authority, where justified and appropriate.
The journal's assessment is intended to determine the appropriate editorial response and does not replace a formal investigation by an institution or competent authority.
Fairness and Confidentiality
Allegations will be assessed objectively, without presuming that misconduct has occurred. Authors and other relevant parties should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to the concerns raised, where appropriate.
Information relating to an allegation will be handled confidentially to the extent reasonably possible, taking into account the need to assess the matter, communicate with relevant parties, protect individuals from unnecessary disclosure, and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Editorial Actions and Outcomes
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the concern and the available evidence, the journal may take appropriate editorial action. Such actions may include requesting clarification, requiring revisions, rejecting a manuscript, suspending the editorial process while concerns are assessed, publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or retracting a published article when justified.
Where appropriate, the journal may communicate relevant findings or concerns to the authors' institutions, community partner organizations, publisher, or other responsible parties, subject to applicable confidentiality and legal considerations.
Any action involving a published article should be consistent with the journal's applicable publication ethics, corrections, and retractions policies.
Post-Publication Allegations
Concerns about research misconduct may be raised before or after publication. JPM Widina may assess credible post-publication allegations when they raise questions about the accuracy, reliability, ethical compliance, or integrity of a published contribution.
When necessary, the journal may take appropriate steps to clarify the published record and inform readers of significant concerns or corrections. The action taken should be proportionate to the available evidence and the seriousness of the issue.
False or Malicious Allegations
The journal expects allegations to be made responsibly and in good faith. Knowingly submitting false or malicious allegations may raise ethical concerns and may be addressed appropriately. However, an allegation should not be considered malicious solely because it cannot be substantiated.
Commitment to Research Integrity
JPM Widina is committed to protecting the credibility of community service publications and promoting responsible reporting of activities, methods, data, and outcomes. Through the appropriate assessment of alleged misconduct, the journal aims to maintain transparency, accountability, and trust in scholarly contributions related to community empowerment, innovation, and social development.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Conflict of Interest Policy
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the submission, review, and publication process. Authors, editors, reviewers, and other individuals involved in the publication process are expected to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their judgment or professional responsibilities.
Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships may compromise, or appear to compromise, an individual's impartiality in conducting, reporting, evaluating, or publishing scholarly work.
In the context of community service publications, conflicts of interest may arise from relationships with funding organizations, community partners, local institutions, government agencies, businesses, program beneficiaries, service providers, or other stakeholders involved in the reported activities. Such relationships do not automatically constitute misconduct, but relevant interests should be disclosed so that their potential influence can be assessed appropriately.
Authors' Responsibilities
Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest when submitting a manuscript. Disclosures should include financial relationships, research or program funding, employment, consultancy, institutional affiliations, personal relationships, or other interests that could influence the design, implementation, evaluation, interpretation, or reporting of the community service activities.
Authors should also disclose relevant relationships with community partners or sponsoring organizations when those relationships may affect the independence of the reported findings, the selection of participants, the interpretation of program outcomes, or the presentation of the results.
If no relevant conflict of interest exists, authors should provide an explicit statement declaring that there are no conflicts of interest to disclose, in accordance with the journal's submission requirements.
Funding and Sponsor Disclosure
Authors should acknowledge the financial and non-financial support received for the reported community service activities and manuscript preparation. Where relevant, authors should explain the role of funding organizations, institutional sponsors, or community partners in program planning, implementation, data collection, evaluation, interpretation of results, and the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.
Any sponsor involvement that could reasonably affect the independence or interpretation of the reported activities should be disclosed clearly.
Editors' Responsibilities
Editors should disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest relating to a manuscript they are handling. An editor with a relevant conflict should not participate in editorial evaluation or decision-making when the conflict could compromise impartiality. Where appropriate, editorial responsibility may be reassigned to another qualified editor who can assess the manuscript independently.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
Reviewers should disclose any circumstances that may affect their ability to evaluate a manuscript objectively. These circumstances may include personal relationships with the authors, institutional affiliations, direct academic or professional competition, financial interests, involvement in the reported community service program, or relationships with the organizations or communities discussed in the manuscript.
If a conflict cannot be appropriately managed, the reviewer should decline the review invitation or inform the editor so that suitable action can be considered.
Identification and Management of Conflicts of Interest
Disclosed conflicts of interest should be assessed in context. Depending on the nature and significance of the conflict, appropriate measures may include requesting additional disclosure, clarifying the role of a sponsor or partner, reassigning editorial responsibilities, selecting an alternative reviewer, or including a conflict-of-interest statement in the published article.
The existence of a conflict of interest does not necessarily mean that a manuscript is unsuitable for publication. The primary objective is to ensure that relevant interests are disclosed and managed appropriately so that editorial decisions and the presentation of scholarly findings remain fair and transparent.
Failure to Disclose
Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may lead to further editorial assessment. Depending on the circumstances and the significance of the undisclosed interest, the journal may request clarification, require a correction to the disclosure statement, reconsider an editorial decision, or take other appropriate action under its publication ethics policies.
If an undisclosed conflict is identified after publication and materially affects the transparency or interpretation of an article, the journal may consider publishing a correction or taking other appropriate action in accordance with its applicable policies.
Commitment to Transparency and Integrity
JPM Widina recognizes that transparency regarding competing interests is essential to maintaining trust in community service publications. All authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to disclose relevant interests honestly and cooperate in addressing potential conflicts to protect the credibility, fairness, and integrity of the scholarly publication process.
Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Post-Publication Discussion Policy
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) recognizes that scholarly communication may continue after an article has been published. Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for authors, readers, community service practitioners, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders to raise questions, clarify findings, and contribute to the improvement of published knowledge and practice.
JPM Widina encourages post-publication communication that is constructive, evidence-based, respectful, and relevant to the scope of the journal. Such communication should support transparency, accountability, and the responsible development of community service practices.
Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may address matters such as the appropriateness of the methods used in community service activities, the interpretation of program outcomes, the validity and completeness of reported data, the evaluation of community empowerment initiatives, the sustainability of program benefits, the involvement of community partners, and the relevance of the findings to other communities or implementation contexts.
Discussion may also raise questions concerning research or publication ethics, including authorship, conflicts of interest, participant consent, confidentiality, the use of photographs or other documentation, and the accuracy of claims regarding community impact. Concerns should be supported by relevant information or evidence whenever possible.
Submission of Comments and Concerns
Readers and other interested parties who wish to comment on a published article or raise a concern may contact the journal through its official communication channels. Communications should identify the article concerned, explain the issue clearly, and provide supporting evidence or references where available.
Comments should focus on the scholarly content, methods, evidence, interpretation, or ethical aspects of the published work. Personal attacks, discriminatory language, unsupported accusations, and communications intended primarily to harass or discredit individuals are not considered constructive scholarly discussion.
Editorial Assessment
The journal may assess submitted comments or concerns to determine whether they are relevant to a published article, supported by sufficient information, and appropriate for further consideration. Where clarification is necessary, the journal may contact the corresponding author or other relevant parties and request a response or additional information.
In evaluating a concern, the journal should distinguish between legitimate scholarly disagreement, differences in interpretation, limitations of a community service program, honest errors, and issues that may indicate a breach of publication ethics. Disagreement with an article's conclusions does not, by itself, establish misconduct.
Authors' Right to Respond
Authors may be invited to respond to substantive comments or concerns about their published work. Responses should address the issues raised in a professional and evidence-based manner. Where appropriate, the discussion may clarify the implementation of the community service program, the data collection process, the interpretation of outcomes, or the limitations of the reported activities.
The opportunity to respond does not prevent the journal from examining concerns independently when issues relating to research integrity or publication ethics arise.
Publication and Communication of Discussions
Depending on the nature of the discussion and the journal's editorial arrangements, the journal may consider publishing a comment, an author response, a clarification, or another appropriate editorial communication. Any material considered for publication may be subject to editorial assessment to ensure relevance, accuracy, fairness, and compliance with applicable publication ethics standards.
The submission of a comment or concern does not guarantee its publication. Editorial decisions should be based on the scholarly value, evidentiary support, relevance, and appropriateness of the proposed communication.
Post-Publication Errors and Ethical Concerns
If a post-publication discussion identifies a possible error or concern that may materially affect the accuracy, interpretation, or integrity of a published article, the journal may assess the matter in accordance with its applicable editorial and publication ethics policies.
Depending on the findings of the assessment, appropriate action may include requesting clarification, publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or considering retraction when warranted. Any action should be proportionate to the nature and significance of the issue and consistent with the journal's applicable Corrections and Retractions Policy.
Confidentiality, Privacy, and Community Protection
Post-publication discussions concerning community service activities must respect the privacy, dignity, and rights of community members, program participants, and partner organizations. Comments and supporting materials should not unnecessarily disclose personal information, confidential records, sensitive community data, or identifiable photographs without an appropriate basis for disclosure.
Particular care should be taken when discussions involve vulnerable individuals or communities, sensitive social circumstances, or information that could expose participants to harm, stigma, or unwanted identification. The journal may consider appropriate measures to protect confidentiality while assessing the substance of a concern.
Professional Conduct and Fairness
All parties involved in post-publication discussion are expected to communicate respectfully, provide accurate information, and avoid misrepresenting the work or statements of others. Allegations should be raised in good faith and assessed fairly. The journal aims to protect legitimate scholarly criticism while ensuring that concerns are handled responsibly and without unnecessary harm to authors, reviewers, community partners, or participants.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
JPM Widina views post-publication discussion as a potential contribution to the quality and accountability of community service scholarship. Constructive dialogue can help identify methodological limitations, improve the reporting of program outcomes, strengthen the interpretation of community needs, and encourage the responsible application of knowledge and innovation in community settings.
Corrections and Retractions Policy
Corrections and Retractions Policy
The Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat: Pemberdayaan, Inovasi dan Perubahan (JPM Widina) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of its published content. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally be identified after publication and that some circumstances may require a formal correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction. Such actions are intended to preserve the reliability of the scholarly record and support responsible community service practices.
This policy applies to published articles and other scholarly content in which an error, omission, ethical concern, or issue affecting the reliability of the publication is identified.
1. Corrections
A correction may be considered when an error is identified in a published article and the error can be addressed without invalidating the main findings, conclusions, or overall scholarly contribution of the work. Examples may include errors in author information, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding statements, terminology, tables, figures, or other content that requires clarification or amendment.
In the context of community service publications, corrections may also be necessary when an article contains an inaccurate description of program implementation, an incorrect statement about the participating community or partner institution, a reporting error in program evaluation data, or a factual inaccuracy concerning the outcomes of an intervention. The significance of the error and its effect on the interpretation of the article will be considered when determining the appropriate action.
Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning or interpretation of an article may not require a formal correction notice. Errors that could mislead readers, affect the interpretation of results, or materially alter the understanding of a community service program should be assessed carefully.
Where a formal correction is warranted, the correction notice should clearly identify the affected article, describe the error, and explain the correction. The corrected information should be presented transparently so that readers can understand the nature of the change. The original publication should remain identifiable, and the relationship between the article and its correction should be made clear wherever technically feasible.
2. Retractions
A retraction may be considered when the reliability or integrity of a published article is seriously compromised. Retraction is intended to alert readers that the article should no longer be relied upon as part of the scholarly record in its original form.
Grounds for considering retraction may include, but are not limited to:
- Substantial errors in data, analysis, or interpretation that invalidate the principal findings or conclusions.
- Fabrication or falsification of data, program outcomes, participant information, or other material presented in the article.
- Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of another person's work.
- Duplicate or redundant publication that materially compromises the originality of the published record.
- Serious authorship or publication ethics violations that affect the legitimacy or integrity of the article.
- Substantial ethical concerns involving consent, participant protection, confidentiality, or the unauthorized use of sensitive community information, where the circumstances warrant retraction.
- Evidence that the reported community service activities, implementation process, or claimed outcomes were materially misrepresented.
- Other serious circumstances in which the published article is determined to be unreliable or its continued presentation without a formal warning would mislead readers.
Retraction should be considered on the basis of the seriousness of the issue and the available evidence. A disagreement over interpretation, a limitation of a community service program, or an honest error that can be adequately corrected does not automatically justify retraction.
3. Expressions of Concern
When a credible concern has been raised but the available evidence is insufficient to reach a conclusion, or when an assessment cannot be completed promptly, the journal may consider issuing an expression of concern. This notice may be appropriate when readers need to be informed of a potentially significant issue while further clarification or assessment is pending.
An expression of concern does not constitute a final determination of misconduct. If additional information becomes available, the journal may review the matter and determine whether further action, including correction, retraction, or no further action, is appropriate.
4. Reporting Errors or Concerns
Authors, readers, reviewers, community partners, institutions, and other interested parties may notify the journal of a suspected error or concern relating to a published article through the journal's official communication channels. Reports should identify the article and describe the issue as clearly as possible. Supporting evidence or relevant documentation should be provided where available.
Authors who discover a significant error in their published work are expected to notify the journal and cooperate in assessing the issue. A request for correction or retraction should explain the nature of the problem and provide relevant supporting information.
The journal may request additional information from the authors or other relevant parties when necessary. Where a concern involves potential research or publication misconduct, the matter may also be considered in accordance with the journal's Allegations of Research Misconduct Policy.
5. Editorial Assessment and Decision-Making
Reports of errors or concerns will be assessed according to their nature, seriousness, relevance, and supporting evidence. The journal may seek clarification from the authors, examine relevant materials, or consult appropriate experts or institutions when necessary and feasible.
The assessment should distinguish between honest mistakes, differences in scholarly interpretation, methodological limitations, and circumstances that may compromise the reliability or ethical integrity of a publication. Decisions should be proportionate to the issue and based on the available evidence.
Authors should be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to concerns relating to their work, where appropriate. However, the journal may take steps to protect the integrity of the scholarly record when a significant concern requires action, even if a response has not been received.
6. Publication of Correction and Retraction Notices
When a correction, expression of concern, or retraction is issued, the accompanying notice should explain the reason for the action in clear and factual language. Where appropriate, the notice should identify the affected article and distinguish between errors, unresolved concerns, and confirmed issues affecting the reliability or integrity of the publication.
Retraction notices should explain the basis for the retraction to the extent that the available evidence and applicable confidentiality obligations permit. The journal should avoid language that is unnecessarily accusatory or that presents unverified allegations as established facts.
Where technically feasible, notices should be linked to the relevant article, and the article's publication status should be clearly indicated. Retraction should not be used to conceal the history of a published article; the scholarly record should remain transparent about the action taken.
7. Authorship, Consent, and Community Protection
Because community service articles may involve identifiable individuals, local communities, partner organizations, photographs, interviews, or other sensitive documentation, the journal will consider privacy, consent, confidentiality, and potential harm when assessing a correction or retraction request.
Where a publication contains information that may expose participants or communities to inappropriate identification or harm, the journal may consider an appropriate response in light of the circumstances, the seriousness of the concern, and applicable ethical and legal requirements. Protecting community members does not remove the need to address material errors or integrity concerns transparently.
8. Corrections and Retractions After Publication
Concerns may arise at any time after publication. The journal may therefore assess reported issues even when an article has been available for an extended period. The passage of time alone does not determine whether a correction, expression of concern, or retraction is warranted.
Any action taken should reflect the significance of the issue, the evidence available, and the need to maintain an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record. The journal may consider additional action if new evidence emerges after an earlier decision.
9. Commitment to Publication Integrity
JPM Widina aims to handle corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions fairly, transparently, and responsibly. These measures are intended to protect readers, authors, community partners, and the communities represented in published work, while supporting the credibility and responsible development of community service scholarship.
