Author Guidelines

General requirements

The general guidelines for writing articles in the Journal of Community Service: Empowerment, Innovation and Change are as follows:

  1. Published manuscripts have never been published in any journal and are not in the status of being accepted for publication
  2. Each author's name is written correctly and completed with affiliate name and email address
  3. Articles are loaded in good Indonesian and English. To reduce writing errors, you can use typoonline in writing Indonesian and grammarly to check for errors in English
  4. The submitted manuscript consists of 6-20 pages, with A4 format in a two-column format (specifically for title, author, author affiliation, email, abstract and keywords made into one column), 1 space, 12 times new Roman font size, and 2 margins .5 cm (right, left, top and bottom), using the Microsoft Office Words program.
  5. Authors are advised to use reference and management and formatting applications such as Mendeley, Zotero and Endnote, with reference writing using the APA 6 styleth Edition (American Psychological Association).
  6. The bibliography consists of a minimum of 10 sources and includes at least 3 primary journal sources, it is recommended to use references from the last 10 years.
  7. The article uses the template that has been prepared.

 Writing system

  1. The structure of the article consists of: title, author's name, author affiliation, email, abstract, keywords, introduction, method, results and discussion, conclusions and suggestions, acknowledgments and bibliography.
  2. The provisions for writing articles are as follows:
  • Title: The title consists of 15-20 words. Avoid writing abbreviations. The title of the manuscript is typed in Times New Roman font size 14 pt.
  • Writer: Manuscripts must have a primary author and a corresponding author. The author's name is written without a title, accompanied by an email address and the name of the institution. Affiliates and emails should be typed in Times New Roman font size 11 pt.
  • Abstract:abstract written in languageIndonesian and English, consisting of 150-200 words and contains problems, objectives, methods and results.
  • Keywords: keywords are written in Indonesian and English, 3-5 words each. Keywords describe important concepts in the article text.
  • Introduction: contains the background conditions, research urgency and analysis with existing research and the objectives of community service activities. Should be typed in 750-1000 words.
  • Method : Contains implementation methods used to solve problems such as counseling, training, science and technology diffusion, lectures, mediation, discussions and other relevant matters.
  • Results and Discussion: Explaining the results or outcomes of community service can be in the form of increasing knowledge, skills or products in a systematic and constructive manner complemented by comprehensive discussions.
  • Conclusions and suggestions: written briefly by describing the substance of the results of community service and recommendations for subsequent activities. Typed in one paragraph, avoid using bullets and numbering.
  • Thank-you note: Filled with gratitude to institutions or agencies or the community that helps community service activities.
  • Bibliography: Bibliography is written based on the modelWHAT 6th (American Psychological Association) and arranged alphabetically from A to Z. Reference lists are at least 10 in which the primary reference sources come from national and international journals. References used for the last 10 years.  It is highly recommended to use a Reference manager (Mendeley, Endnote, Zotero, etc.) to make editing and review easier

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
