Abstract


This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group discussion techniques in group counseling sessions in improving the self-adjustment skills of seventh-grade students in class VII-C at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang. This study used a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest format on a group of four students identified as having low levels of self-adjustment. The t-test analysis revealed that the t-value (21.784) exceeded the critical t-value (4.303), confirming the effectiveness of group discussion techniques in improving students' self-adjustment skills. Based on these results, this study recommends integrating group discussion techniques into group counseling programs to support students in developing better self-adjustment skills.

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas teknik diskusi kelompok dalam sesi konseling kelompok dalam meningkatkan keterampilan penyesuaian diri siswa kelas VII-C di SMP Negeri 10 Kupang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimen dengan format pretest-posttest pada satu kelompok siswa berjumlah empat orang yang diidentifikasi memiliki tingkat penyesuaian diri yang rendah. Analisis t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai t (21,784) melebihi nilai t kritis (4,303), yang mengonfirmasi efektivitas teknik diskusi kelompok dalam meningkatkan keterampilan penyesuaian diri siswa. Berdasarkan hasil ini, penelitian ini menyarankan untuk mengintegrasikan teknik diskusi kelompok ke dalam program konseling kelompok guna mendukung siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan penyesuaian diri yang lebih baik.
