Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

COGNITIA: Interdisciplinary Journal of Mind, Education, and Science publishes original scholarly works that contribute to the understanding of cognition, learning, education, and interdisciplinary studies of mind and science. Authors are required to follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth review and publication process.

Scope of the Journal

Submitted manuscripts must align with the journal’s focus on cognitive science, psychology, education, interdisciplinary learning studies, and related scientific or humanistic perspectives.

Types of Manuscripts

  • Original research articles
  • Conceptual or theoretical papers
  • Systematic or narrative literature reviews
  • Interdisciplinary and exploratory studies

Manuscript Originality

Manuscripts submitted to COGNITIA must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals. All submissions will be screened for plagiarism using appropriate similarity detection tools.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally include the following components:

  • Title (concise and informative)
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (3–5 words)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review or Theoretical Framework
  • Methodology (if applicable)
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements (optional)
  • References

Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Spacing: Single-spaced
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited before submission.

References and Citation

All references must be cited consistently using the APA (7th Edition) referencing style. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all references.

Ethical Considerations

Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards. Authors should state that ethical approval and informed consent were obtained where applicable.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process. Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, relevance, and adherence to ethical standards.

Article Processing Fee

COGNITIA applies an Article Processing Fee (APC) only after acceptance. International authors are exempt from APCs, while Indonesian authors are subject to a modest publication fee. Detailed information is available on the APC policy page.

Copyright and Open Access

All published articles are made available through open access. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication under an appropriate open-access license.

Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system. Authors are required to register and log in before submitting their manuscripts.

Correspondence

All correspondence regarding submissions, reviews, and publication will be conducted via the journal’s official communication channels.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Authors who publish with COGNITIA: Interdisciplinary Journal of Mind, Education, and Science retain the copyright to their work. By submitting and publishing their manuscripts, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and the right to distribute the published work as part of the journal.

Licensing and User Rights

All articles published in COGNITIA are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). This license permits others to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, and to adapt the work for any lawful purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source.

The CC BY license is intended to facilitate the widest possible dissemination of research while ensuring that authors receive proper acknowledgment for their work.

Third-Party Material

If an article contains material (such as figures, tables, images, or extended quotations) for which the copyright is held by a third party, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions prior to publication. Such material must be clearly identified and properly credited in the manuscript.

For uses of journal content that are not covered by the Creative Commons license, or for permissions related to third-party materials, requests should be directed to the editorial office of COGNITIA. Contact information is provided on the journal’s official website.

Archiving and Reuse

Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their published work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or personal websites), provided that the original publication in COGNITIA is properly cited.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
