Abstract


This study aims to analyze the implementation of work–life balance among millennial employees in Palopo City and to describe the level of balance between work responsibilities and personal life experienced by employees. The study focuses on three main dimensions of work–life balance, namely time balance, environment balance, and satisfaction balance. The research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive analysis method. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews involving 100 respondents who were millennial employees working in various sectors in Palopo City. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling. The research instrument consisted of six statements representing the three main indicators of work–life balance. Data analysis was conducted by calculating the mean score of respondents’ perceptions using a four-point scale to measure the level of agreement for each indicator. The results show that the implementation of work–life balance among millennial employees in Palopo City falls into a very good category, with an overall average score of 3.57. The satisfaction balance indicator obtained the highest score, indicating a high level of employee satisfaction in balancing work, family life, and personal needs. Meanwhile, the time balance indicator showed a relatively lower score, although it still remained in the “strongly agree” category. These findings indicate that millennial employees in Palopo City have experienced a relatively good balance between work demands and personal life, supported by work flexibility and an organizational environment that tends to promote employee well-being.

 

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi work life balance pada karyawan generasi milenial di Kota Palopo serta menggambarkan tingkat keseimbangan antara kehidupan kerja dan kehidupan pribadi yang dirasakan oleh karyawan. Fokus kajian diarahkan pada tiga dimensi utama work life balance, yaitu time balance, environment balance, dan satisfaction balance. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara kepada 100 responden yang merupakan karyawan milenial dari berbagai sektor pekerjaan di Kota Palopo. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode incidental sampling. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari enam pernyataan yang merepresentasikan tiga indikator utama work life balance. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menghitung nilai rata-rata persepsi responden menggunakan skala penilaian empat tingkat untuk mengukur tingkat persetujuan terhadap setiap indikator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi work life balance pada karyawan milenial di Kota Palopo berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan nilai rata-rata keseluruhan sebesar 3,57. Indikator satisfaction balance memiliki nilai tertinggi yang menunjukkan tingginya tingkat kepuasan karyawan dalam menyeimbangkan pekerjaan, kehidupan keluarga, dan kebutuhan pribadi. Sementara itu, indikator time balance memiliki nilai relatif lebih rendah, meskipun tetap berada pada kategori sangat setuju. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa karyawan milenial di Kota Palopo telah merasakan keseimbangan yang baik antara tuntutan pekerjaan dan kehidupan pribadi, yang didukung oleh fleksibilitas kerja dan lingkungan organisasi yang relatif mendukung kesejahteraan karyawan.
